the beautiful thing about vintage finds to me are the stories that they leave behind. denise found these bruno magli gems in a pretty little row of vintage shoes at ahab bowen. she also found out that they were purchased from the daughter of a flight attendant- who wore these shoes on the job. these shoes have been all over the place! i knew instantly that i had to grab them for her. after wards, we went back to the condo, threw on her mother-in-law's old dress from the 50s and took these pictures at sunset. gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

everytime i vacation in another city, thrift stores is always a must. ahab bowen (named after the farmer who lived in this historical building) in uptown dallas is probably the most impressive one i've been to. the vintage collection is absolutely immaculate. not only do they make items easy to find and price them reasonably, but they clean, press and steam everything there. sadly, they will be closing the store at the end of july and moving down to an antique mall.

my 3$ finds from value village in forest park

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

its the last wednesday of the month, which means 50% all clothing items for my value village savages! if you are an atlanta local, find your nearest store here. i'll be scouring a few in the morning and afternoon in between work to find some new things to accompany the glorious spring weather in atlanta.

it is also the last day of march. what are your plans for april?

remember the list of things that i made that i thought i should do? i started the "get lost in georgia" one this weekend and began my southern antebellum trail in madison, georgia. i stopped at j&k fleas an'tiques on w. jefferson street while visiting this small beautiful town. j&k has an amazing amount of estate finds with reasonably low prices. i found this music sheet for 15$ and an old photograph and postcard for 1$ each that i'll be framing at some point. madison has over 160 antique vendors, and i spent about two hours at this one place alone. definitely making another trip this weekend.

i definitely failed to mention that these photos were taken with a canon ae-1
a sweet birthday present from a sweet person :)

i went to the thrift store the other day, and purchased 5 dresses for only 13$- including an oscar de la renta for less than a dollar. the one that i'm wearing pictured above was 2$. my intentions in buying all of them were for the photo-op that we had sunday at the mansion. but i've decided that i should wear dresses more often.

i do like to dress up.
i like being a girl.
i like the way it makes me feel.

just another new gadget to play with on sunny autumn days like yesterday. i found this jewel at the thrift store, along with another adorable huffy that i purchased for lola. the manager gave them both to me for twenty. a quirky name and a little fixer upper, he'll be ready for a ride in the EAV in no time.
