westview cemetery
is one the most overlooked wonders of atlanta. established in 1884, westview is home to many well known southerners like asa candler and henry grady. the grounds are huge, still with undeveloped acres of land. the mausoleum, the south's most famous shrine, was built in 1943. dark hallways are lit by sunlight peering through stained glass windows depicting the life of christ. the abbey is so very rich in splendor, like nothing i have ever seen before.

not as romantic as the victorian oakland cemetery, but definitely a must see.
