i caught the tail end of "islands" by the xx on an XM satellite radio station while taking flight to new york last weekend. for that, i am thankful because i am completely obsessed with this band now. currently a trio, the four 20-year-olds met together at the elliot school and formed together in 2005. i am in love their effortless sound, so melodic and melancholy. the lead vocals of sim and croft make it all sound like pillow talk. its as if he were singing in his sleep and she echoes with a response after each line. such perfection.
